Following the success of Marcel Meier’s previous sell-out show in Atelier 23 in July 2008, we are delighted to host this exciting new exhibition which includes new abstract and graffiti canvases, some of which are previewing at Atelier 23 before going on show in Switzerland next month.

Marcello is back!

MarcelloVisitors to Atelier 23 during winter 2007 to summer 2008, will have made the acquaintance of young Swiss graffiti artist, Marcel Meier, who was resident for ten months.  Some may even have been lucky enough to pick up one of his pieces on canvas or furniture or a piece of his wearable art at his sell-out show in July 2008. Crisp

Marcel is back in Atelier 23 for the month of May to explore further his materials and techniques, bringing abstract art and graffiti together on his canvases, most of which have been reserved in advance as commissioned pieces or for exhibition in Switzerland.

There will be a few exciting works for sale, however, at his solo show at Atelier 23 on Thursday 28 May- vernissage from 6.30 - 9pm.

The Muir Maxwell Trust Art Fair took place at Bonham’s in Edinburgh last weekend. Ronnie was delighted to be able to contribute to the overall total of around £8000 with the sale of his TextureScape, “Sunflower Summer”.

Muir Maxwell Trust helps the families of children with epilepsy.  “I am thrilled to be able to use my art to help children,” says Ronnie who, as a former teacher, welcomes opportunities to enhance the lives of children and young people.

Ronnie has two TextureScapes on exhibition this weekend at Bonhams in Edinburgh as part of the Muir Maxwell Trust Art Fair.

The annual art fair takes place at Bonham’s, 22 Queen Street, Edinburgh on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 May from 10 to 4 pm. If you would like to reserve one of these works and help with this very worthwhile children’s charity, please contact Jan Riley.

Ronnie’s ostrich egg fetches £200!

Ronnie Ford with ostrich eggRonnie Ford was one of several artists invited to paint an ostrich egg for Iona House Gallery in Woodstock in Oxford. His poppy landscape was among fifty eggs auctioned on Easter Monday to raise funds for Scottish charity Mary’s Meals providing food for African children. Ronnie’s egg fetched £200, contributing to the impressive total of £6310. Diana Zajicek, from the gallery’s Scottish office, said: “We are absolutely delighted with how the auction has gone. We’ve had bids from across the UK and as far afield as America.” Ronnie shows annually in Iona House Gallery’s Scottish show which will take place this year in October.

Florida show a huge success

Exhibiting at the daas Gallery in downtown Fort Myers for the month of March, brought 45 of Ronnie’s paintings to the attention of a delighted new audience. His first solo show in the States was greeted with huge enthusiasm. “We had to keep the doors open till 11pm on the opening night,” said daas Gallery owner David Acevedo. “More than 200 people came through the show on the reception evening.”

“I have never seen anything like it before” said visitor Michelle Rothaker. “Ronnie’s colours and textures are awesome. I have been unable to resist adding one to my collection. Now it makes me smile every day.”

Ronnie has been invited by galleries , and arts centres to participate in a number of upcoming art events and exhibitions in Florida next year.
